Period of Inquiry

This is a time to share our stories and examine their meaning. It is also a time to begin hearing the stories of the Gospel. You can ask questions about Jesus and about His Church.

 

Rite of Acceptance

This is a first welcome into the community and moves a person into the Period of the Catechumenate. You will receive a new title, Catechumen, to signify your commitment to journey further.

 

Catechumenate

This is a time to deepen faith and conversion within the church community. Catechumens learn more about the Bible, Church teachings, worship, Sacraments, morality, and service. This period may last anywhere between a few months to a few years, depending on your needs.

 

Rite of Election

When you and the team are ready for initiation, you prepare for the Easter Vigil by first celebrating this Rite of Election on the first Sunday of Lent. Together with the other catechumens of the Archdiocese, you will be brought to the Cardinal for a blessing. You will also gain a new title, Elect.

 

The Period of Purification and Enlightenment

During the season of Lent, the Elect you will spend time in prayer and self examination as you prepare for initiation at the Easter Vigil. Formal teaching continues during this period.

 

Easter Vigil

You will receive full initiation through Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist

 

Mystagogy

During the Easter Season, through Pentecost, you are called a Neophyte, and will spend time understanding the sacramental life with an emphasis on the gospel, Eucharist and works of charity.
